Cast content from your device to your Android TV device

Important: You can only cast from the latest version of a Chromecast-enabled app or a Chrome browser on a device connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Android TV.

Cast websites from your laptop

                   

Like a mobile devices casting from Chromecast-enabled mobile apps you can also cast to your TV using your Chrome web browser.


Casting a tab from Chrome:

   

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More More and then Cast.
  3. Choose the Chromecast device where you want to watch the content.
    • If you're already using the Chromecast, your content will replace what's on your TV.
  4. When you're done, to the right of the address bar, click Cast Active cast extension and then Stop casting.
                   

Casting videos / media from Chrome:


  1. On the video or media you're watching, click Cast Cast.
  2. The video or images you played will continue to show on your computer and TV, but the sound will only play on your TV. Sounds for other tabs and apps will still play on your computer.

Cast your computer screen

You can display your entire computer screen using Chrome on Mac, Windows, and Chrome OS.

Note: To play the audio on your TV, use a Windows computer.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More More and then Cast.
  3. Click Sources Down Arrow.
  4. Click Cast desktop.
  5. Choose the Chromecast device where you want to watch the content.

Cast music and videos from your computer

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More More and then Cast.
  3. Click Sources Down Arrow.
  4. Click Cast file.
  5. Select a file.
  6. Choose the Chromecast device where you want the file to play.

   

If you have trouble casting



Make sure your Android TV device is up to date.
  1. On your remote, press Home.
  2. On your Android TV device, at the top right, select Settings Settings.
  3. Under “Device Preferences,” select About and then System software update and then Software update.
  4. If an update is available, follow the on-screen installation instructions.
